  • Uncharted 2 wins WGA award
    by Tim Rinehart
    Posted February 22nd, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Well, Naughty Dog Studios, developers of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, won the 2009 WGA award for Best Videogame Writing. For a non-gamer, this would be a news post that would be filled with fluff about how gaming is so mainstream these days, blah blah blah. But let's consider the competition: Assassin's Creed II, Modern Warfare 2, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One movie tie-in game, and two sequels to a successful franchise. And one of them has a story that can be summarized in about ten minut...
  • Metal Gear Arcade demo photos
    by Tim Rinehart
    Posted February 19th, 2010 at 11:42 am
Kotaku has posted some photos of the new Metal Gear Arcade cabinet that's surfaced at a game expo in Japan. It seems as though it's 3D, uses headtracking, gun peripheral, and stimulates the small bones in your ear for Codec sequences. Ok, unfortunately that part isn't true yet. But it seems as though Konami went full-on to present a top-notch Metal Gear presentation into arcades. But it emphasizes the gameplay of the most recent MGS titles, it seems, instead of stealth, it emphasizes action c...
  • Iwata: ‘Big iPod Touch’ not a concern
    by Tim Rinehart
    Posted January 29th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
If you've just arrived to Pandora recently, connected your internet, and have been out on your Avatar since yesterday, then here's what you missed. Food is in pill form, cars run on electricity and human blood, and Apple announced the iPad, the best/worst thing to happen to Twitter, Apple fans, and the tampon market. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata seems unfazed. The iPad, poised to compete with the DSiXLGT2000, is just a "big iPod Touch". At least, that's what he told the Associated Press. H...
  • ModNation Racers Beta Hands On

    Posted January 26th, 2010 at 7:10 pm
One thing that seems to have exploded on the videogame front this generation is user created content. At the forefront of this boom is the acclaimed LittleBigPlanet, the cutesy platformer with the most adorable little character and addicting levels. With LBP having seen releases on PS3 and PSP, Sony were sure they were onto a winner. And so they decided they’d warrant a LBP type racer, known as ModNation Racers. This was announced at E3, all the way back in June, where not only did we he...
  • PS3 Controller first “Wand”, then “Gem”, now Being Called the Arc?
    by Ricardo Trejo
    Posted January 19th, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Last year's E3 was filled from top to bottom with motion controls. It was a bit understandable that after the Wii's continuous and ongoing success its competitors would want to get in on it too. Microsoft stunned the crowd with its camera based Project Natal, and Sony... well, they used both technologies: a camera and a controller. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it really didn't wow anyone. From then on Sony's unnamed apparatus became known as the Wand. After that it then became know...
  • Reggie Shrugs Shoulders as New Super Mario Bros. Passes PS3 Modern Warfare 2
    by Ricardo Trejo
    Posted January 16th, 2010 at 3:21 am
Back in November Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, stated that New Super Mario Bros Wii would outsell one console version of Modern Warfare 2 over the course of three months. The challenge ends at the end of the January, but we're only 2 weeks into the new year and already NSBW has dominated over Modern Warfare's PS3 sales. Mario made Nintendo a whopping 4.21 million, whereas MW2 for PS2 stands at  2.95 million - both numbers are impressive, but they both fall short of the 36...

Finally! A game for those kids who would persistently kidnap and eviscerate their sister's stuffed animals.  505 Games has released a new trailer for the viewing pleasure of this very frightening and very specific demographic. Catch the trailer here. The original, which does not feature nearly enough bear-on-bear grisly murders, can be found here. Not only does the story revolve around the revenge fantasies (and realities) of a stuffed bear who has just about had it with the ot...
  • Entire MegaMan Zero Series to be Re-released on a Single DS Cartridge
    by Ricardo Trejo
    Posted January 15th, 2010 at 4:33 am
I was a big fan of the Zero series, so it's pretty sweet to hear that all 4 games in the timeline will be fit into a single DS cartridge and re-released. Capcom posted some info on it just moments ago and we're already drooling at the upcoming "Rockman Zero Collection" due out in Japan April 22nd. The game is even priced less than $50 American dollars (after exchange). No word on if it'll be released outside the land of the rising sun, but with everything Capcom's been doing recently for thei...
  • OMFG You Guys Mega Man 10!!!11
    Justin by Justin
    Posted January 15th, 2010 at 2:30 am
Nobody really thought we were done with this, did they? Of course not.  Mega Man is a franchise that is more cherished the older, glitchier, and stranger it gets.  Clearly, it is unkillable.  Not that anybody's trying to kill it.  Except for legions of menacing, mechanical murderbots. This time around, there is NO strangely-haired super scientist trying to explode his devious whatever all over the planet.  You might say this is a departure for the series.  But fear not, classic Mega ...
  • Sony Knows NA Heavy Rain Box Art Sucks – Gives your Options
    by Ricardo Trejo
    Posted January 13th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
Earlier, we posted up the newly unveiled Heavy Rain North American box art, which we pointed out wasn't as classy as the European one. So to quell the fans' unanimous rage Sony has notified gamers everywhere that there's going to be an option of sorts to solve this dilemma. A printable version of the European art will be hosted by Sony at the time of the game's release. "We’ll be doing that for those that would prefer the UK artwork. Keep an eye out on the blog around launch." -Christian C...
