  • Guilty Gear Making a Return

I'm a huge Guilty Gear fan, and when I heard that problems between Sega and Arc Systems over the rights of the characters were going on, I knew that the series was in trouble. But when Blazblue came out to take GG's missing place I felt a lot better - fans even noticed that the BB characters were even somewhat modeled after their Guilty Gear counterparts. I suppose this was done to quell the maelstrom. Now it seems like Arc has resolved the issue and soon will be having two fighters out simul...
  • Torchlight Review

Creating a dungeon crawling hack-and-slash game these days is mighty tough on the developers. Each game that even attempts to go near the genre gets compared to the Diablo series and ultimately gets crushed in its shadow. When Torchlight was announced and it was learned that some of the developers behind Diablo 1 and 2 were behind the project, a small ray of sunshine appeared. Could an action RPG game not named Diablo finally make an impact? The answer to that question? Sort of. Certainly, if...

These are the demos that are available for free download: Bit Trip Beat Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits World of Goo Po...

  • Assassin’s Creed II Review: Ezio Auditore vs. Altair

This is by far one of the most fun titles that I have ever played. New side missions include delivering mail, beating up unfaithful husbands and just somewhat wayward individuals and there are more free-run rooftop races, but the best additions have to be the assassination contracts and the intriguing puzzles and riddles that you must solve in order to make it through the storyline. The fiction ties into real history seamlessly to the point that it’s actually conceivable. Real world historical...
  • Gaming is good for you

Next time your parents, friends, or boyfriend/girlfriend razzes you about gaming rotting your brain, you can point them to a study in November's issue of the Journal Perception through Wheaton College (although you need a subscription to see the entirety of the study in PDF format).  A professor gave 20 students a problem to solve, and then gave them an action or puzzle game to play.  They then had another chance to solve the problem.    The action gamers solved the problem faster, while the...

  • Blade-Wielding Nun Now Hanging Out in Arcade
    Justin by Justin

"Where have zombies not been recently?" Press Start Studios asked. "Medieval times," came the reply. And that is how a righteous nun wound up in a world festering with the undead.  Press Start Studios has released "Twin Blades: The Reaping Vanguard" to Xbox Live Arcade for 24o MS Points.  The game's protagonist, a small nun illustrated in a wild manga-style of animation, is handy with both short and long ranged weaponry, skills that will come in undoubtedly handy in the zombie apocalypse...
