Anyone familiar with FPS games has probably heard the term "Crytek" or "CryEngine" at some point. ...then probably forgot about it. If you haven't heard about it, CryEngine is a game engine that was made popular by the EA published and Crytek Frankfut developed "Crysis" series. This series was famed for it's gorgeous graphics and tight gameplay. It was, however, also know for it's insanely high system requirements. Most everyone who wanted to play this game, at least at an enjoyable level, was r...

Anyone with a interest in Sega and Obsidian's new RPG are very well aware that the game completely missed it's release date. Obsidian boss, Feargus Urquhart explains: "We're very happy that Sega has made the decision to hold back the shipment of the game in order to give it the best chance at becoming the publishing success that we at Obsidian and our partners at Sega are striving for". • Prototype Review

I've noticed that whenever I play a sandbox-type game, I end up straying from the main storyline/quest and go about my own business, never to return to the story. This was not the case with Prototype. Sure, there may be a few plot holes, but I was enraptured to the point that I sat through the entire game, following the story as close as possible, and only taking a couple breaks before finishing. Prototype was the most fun I've had with a game for a while. You play as Alex Mercer, a guy who c...

Bioware recently spilled the beans on it's upcoming and very anticipated game Dragon Age: Origins, saying they have two years of DLC already planned for the game. Mark Darrah, Executive Producer, said the content will be "item packs" and "larger quests that might last an hour or two, up to even fully fledged expansion packs." No word on pricing but the good news is that the content should hit all the platforms....
  • Pre-order The Saboteur and get a knife!
    Bo by Bo

Not a real one of course; that'd be just neglectful (but very, very cool). No, if you pre-order from Gamestop you'll get an exclusive "Nazi knife" to use in game for stealth kills. I'm sure there are plenty of knives laying about, but this one is "exclusive"...whatever that entails. ...

Another dynasty has fallen. The 2K series has been sacred to me for a long time, usurping Live in many ways and being my basketball game of choice. Despite a few disastrous games in the past few years, the Live series appears to have been creeping up slowly in quality of gameplay and presentation while 2K was sitting back on it's laurels as the best hoops game around. With the most recent iteration of the series, however, it appears that Live may be at the passing point. The thing that strike...

Is it just me or does no one play the Wii anymore? I bought mine around 6 months, and for about 3 months I didn't stop playing it. I know have had enough an to be honest until I get in the mood to play Galaxy again, I Will probably never bother. Unless Sega have their way. Sega have recently expresses that it is still looking to give the core gamers something to look forward to on the Wii. with the relative success of the House of The Dead games on the Wii and the very adult game of Madworld,...
  • Digital Distribution: Love it or hate it?
    by Richard

No matter what you think about it, it’s pretty much inevitable.  On the PC it been available for several years now and is becoming a major source of revenue for developers.  Several videogame analysts have said it will be a significant percentage of profits for most console developers in 3 to 5 years.  I've started discussions about digital distribution on various forums I roam and gamers seem really divided on the issue.  I for one love digital distribution and hope it catches on in a bi...
  • Street Fighter IV review

I missed out on the hype of Street Fighter II due to my age; I never fully understood why it held a place in so many people’s hearts as their favorite fighting game. I grew up in the age of Tekken which is still my fighter of choice. Saying all of that I was excited for the new release of Street Fighter IV. After reading articles and previews it seemed that this was a game not to be missed, videos only intrigued me further into the potential of the game. After picking up SF VI was immediate...
